Each work uses a formal vocabulary that is reminiscent of 20th-century modernist painting, which Minoliti then infuses with playfulness and humor. Instead of being viewed as inherently abstracted, these forms now read as vibrant, animated, and even childlike, eroding the aesthetic traditions of modernism. Western art history often idealizes the relationships between male artists and their sons whom they train and with whom they eventually collaborate.
