The organization focuses on distributing funds that allow Black trans women to access safe travel options, such as ride-share services and other alternatives to public transportation. Founder Devin Lowe (@devinmichaellowe), describes how "the overall mission of the Black Trans Travel Fund is to help allies leverage their resources, and provide Black trans women with the financial resources needed to be able to self-determine safer alternatives to travel, where they will be less likely to experience verbal harassment or physical violence.” ⠀⠀ Lowe launched BTTF after becoming frustrated with a lack of action in response to the epidemic of violence against Black trans women. Financial support and security are essential to providing Black trans women with resources that can protect them from experiencing violence and harassment.
