Today May 15 is Endangered Species day, and I’d like to share some favorite photos of Bornean Orangutans from my archive to promote awareness of this Critically Endangered species. Orangutans are endangered mainly due to habitat loss, which has been severe over recent decades. But important strongholds remain, like Gunung Palung National Park, where I took these images. And there is important conservation work being done there by @SaveWildOrangutans, who work closely with the communities around the park to promote the long term health of this important orangutan population and the sustainable livelihoods of the people in the communities.
