Self-isolation (snippet from day 2: Paired Yoga). Yesterday was my first day of self-isolation. I am quite overwhelmed by everything going on in the news and the implications this has on myself, my friends, my family, my country and populations globally. The current plan for me is if I don’t show any #COVID19 Symptoms over the course of a 7-day self-isolation period, I can head to our National Training Centre to train whilst carefully socially distancing myself on the campus. So unfortunately, no trampolining for me currently. However – I will be getting creative in the ways I can keep fit, improve my skills and stay sane stuck inside my house. I will try and share my ideas and welcome any of yours – Please send me anything you see that might be of interest! 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️ Although I have my concerns over the impact that the coronavirus has on my training and competition plans for this year…and whether or not the Olympics should take place when they are planning to…my main concern is over the health of myself, others around me - and around the world. On a personal level, for at least the next 12 weeks, I sadly won’t be able to visit my parents (which overlaps with Mother’s Day & mum’s birthday) nor my grandma, who requires an overdue operation which has been postponed to allow space for an overloaded NHS. Rightfully so, competitions have been cancelled (or postponed) and I believe there is a question mark over the Olympics. With so much uncertainty and ever-changing government guidelines, training has been and will continue to be disrupted. It’s an odd time. But I am not alone and I feel for others in similar situations to me and to those in far worse. I want to do my part to help reduce the impact of this global pandemic, which is bigger than sport. I will also try and do that whilst keeping as much normality to my life as possible for my own mental health – and take advantage of the wonderful world of social media and video call technology to stay connected with others without jeopardising our health. • • #selfisolation #olympics #yoga #couplesyoga #corona
