I remember when I got 500 followers, then 1000, and so on. I remember me and a friend would laugh as we each surpassed one another every couple of weeks. It was a number that I always wanted more of. It was all in innocence - I wanted to reach as many people as I could.  As any 'influencer' would,  I thought of photos and content that might appeal to my followers. I began to notice that photos of me in a sports bra, whether climbing or preparing to climb, really got a lot of attention. And who doesn't love attention; admittedly I was ok with it. My numbers kept growing - just like a plant who is nurtured. You could say IG became my newest giga pet.  Over the last couple of years though, my growth on IG has plateaued; you can imagine it being similar to that feeling of not improving for quite sometime when you don't change up your routine in climbing [or any sport]. Initially I became worried about this as I am a sponsored athlete and undoubtedly having a good social media presence is something companies consider these days. But I wasn't attached - I began to question the point of social media and began wishing that I could simply delete it. I began feeling sour towards this platform, especially when I learned about "Insights," which breaks down all of your followers information for you into even more numbers. I learned here that a whopping 68% of my followers are men, leaving only 32% for women....
