The mix between raw nature and preserved wooden traditional houses is a must-see. In the picture: The historic Kizhi Pogost, located on one of Lake Onega’s many islands. The wooden architecture is a masterpiece of carpentry technique—all of the incredibly decorated buildings were constructed without the use of a single nail.
