Photo by @acacia.johnson | After days at sea, the Shag Rocks appear on the horizon in a nearly thousand-mile (1,600-kilometer) expanse of ocean between the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and South Georgia Island. Near to the nutrient-rich waters of the Antarctic Convergence, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Southern Ocean, the rocks are home to numerous nesting bird species, including shags, prions, and wandering albatross.
