I’ve always been attracted to photographing the dramatic scenes of bad weather but my eyes were truly opened to their power in 2018 when friend @krystlejwright invited me on a project to #stormChase in a way I’d never dreamed of. Over the course of 2 weeks our friend and storm lead @nampix (Nick Moir) skillfully navigated Krystle @skiparmstrong @tobypike and I across #tornadoAlley in hot pursuit of supercells, explosive lightning, dust storms and of course, tornados. It was unlike anything I’ve experienced and has now become one of my favorite annual things with this incredible crew. Here’s a collection of photos from 2018. I must note that this is extremely dangerous and should never be done to without guidance from an expert. You can EASILY get into serious trouble resulting in injury or death, knowing how to read the signs and make calculations is critical. We’re extremely lucky to have @nampix (chief photographer at the Sydney Herald) as our guide; if you want to see incredible photographs of storms and Australia’s tragic fire, he’s very worth a follow. He’s currently doing very meaningful coverage of this devastating moment in history.
