In continuation of yesterday’s #Antarctica post from 2012, here’s a small vignette of what was filmed for @natgeochannel - The conditions in the Walthat Mountains of Queen Maude Land are savage to say the least, an absolute sufferfest. In our 52 days on the ground we were blinded sided with storms frequently, Katabatic winds of 100mph that ravaged are camps numerous times, temps as cold as -50 degrees that made even using the bathroom a nightmare. Time on the wall was precious and it was a strategic game of chess to inch up the 2,200ft vertical tower when the weather cooperated. One of the hardest things on expedtions like this is the down time as you wait for weather to clear, the festering and boredom.
