I would have missed it completely had I not spotted the slightest movement of a tentacle. In competitions for camouflage or getting out of tight places, the octopus would take home the gold every time. Widely known for their intelligence and their curiosity, octopuses use tools like coconuts to hide from predators. They can squeeze into small spaces and change colors to blend into their surroundings using special skin cells called chromatophores. The Caribbean reef octopus, pictured here, is found in warm waters around coral reefs and grassy and rocky seabeds.
