Photo by @daisygilardini | Botswana's Chobe River in May is wonderful not only for bird photography but also for some amazing water lilies.
Water lilies and lotuses are different species, even though they’re both aquatic plants that grow in shallow, calm waters and are similar in shape and habitat. Water lilies are common in the West, while lotuses are more familiar in the East. The main difference in appearance is that lotuses' leaves and flowers rise above the water level, while water lilies float on the water’s surface.
