Photo by Matt Borowick @mborowick | Hengifoss is a beautiful waterfall in the Fljótsdalur valley not far away from Egilsstaðir. At 420 feet, it is one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. What makes Hengifoss different than most of the other waterfalls in the country is the visible red layers behind the falls. Each and every layer represents a different period of climate in Iceland. It’s often referred to as fossil soil. For more pictures from Iceland, follow @mborowick. #iceland #nordic #waterfall #nature #adventure
