How we see the world is shaped by our experiences and past traumas.

Much of our healing work is in learning how to see the world through a new lens so we can reopen our hearts and trust ourselves.

There are stages of growth and self-realization we all must go through.

Early stages resemble a sleepy haze - one in which we feel powerless in our relationships, and perhaps even believe we have nothing to do with our patterns at all.

Slowly, we continue to hit the same wall over and over again until we either turn away and go back to the sleepy haze, become bitter, or make a choice to look a little closer at what’s happening beneath the surface.

Should we choose the path of self-realization, the focus shifts from the finger-pointing merry-go-round into a more vast, exploratory space.

Self-realization work is not rooted in finding fault or blame.
It is not about making ourselves wrong, or responsible for how others behaved. It is not about changing our personality or getting rid of “bad” feelings.

Self-realization work is in essence, about acceptance and inner-peace that ripples outward.

It is about attaining liberation and freedom through the awareness that we hold more power than we ever imagined.

Rather than using that power to hold onto anger and blame, we can use it toward our own healing.

We free ourselves from the energy of people in our past who hurt, betrayed, or projected their wounds onto us by feeling our way through and doing the work to clear a new path forward.

Many of us never fully process our anger, but if we do, we may hold onto it forever, believing it’s the only way to protect ourselves from ever being hurt again.

But our boundaries become clearer and stronger than ever when we’re in touch with our hearts and connected to our own self-worth.

Nothing we say or do can change the past. Holding onto resentment will not cure the heartache.

So what to do with what remains? That is the golden question. You can’t change the past, and you can’t change anyone else.

But you have the capacity to heal and connect to the light inside of you.

All that matters now is finding your way back to love.
