President Trump made his name on the world's most famous island. Now he wants to buy the world’s biggest.⠀
⠀
The idea of the U.S. purchasing Greenland has captured the former real-estate developer's imagination, according to people familiar with the deliberations, who said Trump has, with varying degrees of seriousness, repeatedly expressed interest in buying the ice-covered autonomous Danish territory between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans.⠀
⠀
In meetings, at dinners and in passing conversations, Mr. Trump has asked advisers whether the U.S. can acquire Greenland, listened with interest when they discuss its abundant resources and geopolitical importance, and, according to two of the people, has asked his White House counsel to look into the idea.⠀
⠀
Some of his advisers have supported the concept, saying it was a good economic play, two of the people said, while others dismissed it as a fleeting fascination that will never come to fruition. It is also unclear how the U.S. would go about acquiring Greenland even if the effort was serious.⠀

Let him have it. They can't really do worse under america then they have under denmark. Denmark have over the years totally done every effort to destroy greenlands culture and people. Alcoholism and all sort of social problems are through the roof up there. People of greenlandic heritage living in denmark is frowned upon and under heavy racism being talk dawn to and bullied. They can't really do any worse under US then they have under denmark.. Go Greenland- one of the must beautiful countrys and beautiful people. Only one thing wrong with greenland and that is denmark...

@scottyk222 because Greenland has representation in the Denmark parliament and the European Union as well as several other European Union. It would need to sever those ties to become OUR territory. You can’t belong to Denmark and the US. And as for Puerto Rico, it doesn’t even have representation in Congress which has been an issue brought up lately with Harvey. And selling means there’s demand. If countries really REALLY wanted Greenland, they’d make an offer directly to Denmark. What if we buy and can’t sell?

@alexander.white__ was wondering when someone was gonna say my reasons are irrelevant. Try and solve the obstacles before focusing so much on the benefits. How are you gonna negotiate Greenland’s withdrawal from Denmark, from the European Union? Are you going to give them the same representation they get in Parliament? How are you going to pay for it? Just drop $8 million in the World Bank and call it a day?

@dereksuthammanont Of course I don’t know the technical intricacies of how it would work, but I do know it would be possible. Greenland already left the EU. It is totally possible for one country to purchase a territory from another and it has been done hundreds of times. Why on earth do you think we would pay the World Bank? We would just pay Denmark an amount of money they’d be willing to accept.

Please... I am so SICK of him. Why or Why can't he 'go back to where he came from'? He never expected to win - you know. He just wanted to upset the political system ... and he has certainly done that ... along with creating the most hateful period of rule EVER in the modern history of the USA.
