I dithered about posting this because it’s not the insta-perfect glossy square we’ve all become accustomed to seeing. It’s a bit messy and there are no sun flares streaming in yanno? 🥰
.
When I look through my years on here, it didn’t start off with perfect squares though, just cute snapshots of a cosy little life. It was nice. Let’s have more of that shall we?

This was life this morning. Milky is incredibly chill and lets her stroke him for ages, she’s surprisingly gentle for a 1 year old ❤️

Can I ask, what did you use to love about insta that you don’t see much anymore? And, if you don’t have an answer to that but just wanna shout ‘cats!’ in the comments, I get it! 👌🏻😂💖 #LPMumLife

I like cosy real life much better than life productions. And there will always be over the top respondents like Alice9797. Your cat is happily acclimated to Pearls room. And one day soon one of the cats may treat Pearl a lesson in boundaries - and that is a great lesson at her age. Notice the book in her little stand. Wasn't I supposed to wake up to a video this morning? I realized that watching your life shows me the value of always taking the opportunity to talk and give praise your children. Looking back I could have done that more often. I like to think of all the people that you are gently teaching.

Back to the real insta! :) I used to use this platform as a virtual diary. Than I started to post my posh pictures I take with my dslr and share them. But with more followers I started to share less about me and my life and I missed that. So I turned back to my diary-like postings. I love my photography, don’t get me wrong but there is more in instagram for me if I see something that actually happened five years ago than another macro-plant-Shot, perfectly edited. :)

I've only used Instagram for 2 years, but in that time colour has disappeared from the squares and filters have crept in more and more. In those two short years it seems to have gone from people just posting snapshots of their day to day lives to feeds being heavily curated...even if they aren't an influencer. People care too much about what strangers will think when taking a photo instead of just capturing the moment as it is. Sorry, rant over 😂.

Used to love seeing actual pictures. No filters. Just real life blurred photos, natural lighting, natural beauty. Everything is either so fake or people worry to much “this isn’t insta material”. I miss people posting what they wanted about their life, instead of worrying about how perfect the picture is. I post what I want despite what it looks like. Mainly my cat Domino or my niece (who is always covered in food) but that’s the stuff I post. Xx

I used to love taking a photo and posting it straight to Instagram. I know I’ve got 2-5 apps now I put a photo through before posting, which also means I’ll take a pic and save it for editing and posting later. My first ever insta pic was an ‘artsy’ shot of the coffee plunger and milk lol with an IG filter popped on and posted with no caption - just because I thought it looked cool. Phew. Lots to miss.

When things become over polished. I find insta a fun platform but it can also be a damaging one if its presenting people with ‘perfect lives’. I love it when a person is just real and show that on social media. It’s so relatable. There’s so much fakeness these days I genuinely worry about teens/ self esteem etc. Haha... Cat! Xx
