Story time. So thanks to a humid summer afternoon many moons ago and a staunch mission to find an iced chai to which a tiny coffee shop came to the rescue, I had the random good fortune of meeting Malcolm Gladwell. And to be honest, that particular day was a highly unpleasant one for me but this small serendipitous blip made amends for it. We chitchatted for only a few minutes but I remember being immediately struck with how humble and present this soul was for being a renowned author who is probably approached often. I love it when I witness this. When someone who holds rank, power, prestige, or some form of affluence that would make it easy for said individual to have a twinge of “Do you know who I am?!” syndrome, and instead that very person turns out to be a kindred spirit with a humble heart, it restores my lens on humanity and that there are in fact more who radiate light out there. And this is important, especially when there is so much energy as well as messages that inundate us with everything but light. It’s easy to think that what we bring makes little to no impact, but you never know how instrumental a kind word or gesture, a gift in being present, or simply being considerate may impact another’s course. Sometimes it’s those tiny details and blips that serve as a catalyst for monumental change or what Malcolm Gladwell would call “the tipping point.” Here’s to all of you who are tipping points of goodness, hope, inspiration and light to others. You’re my heroes.

A small kind gesture can definitely brighten up an otherwise unpleasant situation and shine some inspiring light on what seems to be a somewhat desperate world sometimes! Even if it's so much easier to get stuck on the bad and the negativity because it feels like it darkens "the whole", we always end up remembering that one moment in that one terrible day when someone managed to make us smile for a second, and restore a little of our faith in humanity!
