Besides the biological importance of playing, this behavior give us —the photographers — great photo opportunities. Here, two lion cubs play in Chobe National Park in Botswana. The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists lions as “vulnerable” on their red list of endangered species. The population is decreasing and is down to 23,000-39,000 individuals left. Major threats to the lion population include human-wildlife conflict, territory fragmentation, habitat loss, and trophy hunting.
