The Gorge is a canyon through the Cascade Mountains that is approximately 80 miles long and includes a diversity of landscapes and ecosystems. It stretches from the temperate rainforests of the west slope of the Cascades, which receive an annual rainfall of about 100 inches, to the dry sage country of the east slopes, which receive only about 10 inches of rain per year. The Columbia River watershed begins in British Columbia and ends in the Pacific Ocean. It's also one of only four rivers that cross the Cascade Mountains. gifford677 There is a house on that property where I lived while pregnant with my son. There are also indian fishing platforms there. Magical place to grow a baby.

smdmaclean Drove all the way to the East of the Gorge past Boardman Ore. Loved the dry landscape and seeing what goes on in the area at the Sage Museum.

pcocapeggyoconnor I knew it was my Columbia Gorge before reading and I’m in the west end where it is totally different. All points are amazing views!!!!!

zenphisto_ I drove with my sons toward an AirBnB rental in the ocean through this area. We were blown away by the beauty of that drive.

allison3388 Island in picture was a sacred burial ground for the Native Americans of the area. Especially the Yakamas!!
