This is the mouth of the Suwannee River, photographed during a helicopter flight in January. The Suwannee serves as a 240-mile-long (386 km) wildlife corridor connecting Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge at its headwaters in Georgia to Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge on Florida's Gulf coast near Cedar Key. Because the Suwanee watershed remains relatively natural, clean water in the estuary supports one of America's most important sources of aquaculture for oysters and clams. #gulfofmexico #suwannee
