Photo by @joemcnallyphoto - For a story on the power of light for @ナショナルジオグラフィック, got involved in the legend and mystery of Stonehenge. Always a gathering point for the summer and fall solstice. Self proclaimed druids, sun worshippers, and all manner of devotees have gathered there over the years for the observance of those times of year, when we celebrate the longest day of the year, also known as midsummer, and then the autumnal equinox. The picture of the fire twirler was made in during the fall observance, and the aerial view shows the array of stones and their shadows. It was not shot on the day of summer solstice! We tried, but the English clouds doomed us on that day and we had to go back for this view later in the year. The stones retain their fascination and Stonehenge remains one of the most visible and noteworthy historical sites in the UK.
