Very happy to welcome His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan to the Istana today. Glad to reciprocate his warm hospitality when I visited Jordan in April 2016. It was also a pleasure to meet His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Mohammad Bin Talal again.

King Abdullah is a good friend to Singapore and has visited many times. Here at the invitation of President @halimahyacob, he spoke at the International Conference on Cohesive Societies this morning. This is an initiative by the President to promote dialogue and understanding among the different faiths and communities around the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
King Abdullah is a strong advocate of interfaith dialogue. We are honoured by his leadership and support in reaffirming tolerance, mutual trust and respect among the different faiths in the face of rising extremism.

During our meeting, King Abdullah and I exchanged views on developments in our respective regions. We also discussed cooperating on counter-extremism, bilaterally and through the Aqaba Process. I am confident that ties between Singapore and Jordan will continue to grow ever stronger. – LHL
