Coming in at around 0.9 inches (24 millimeters) is Denise’s pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus denise), one of the world’s smallest seahorses! This critter inhabits Indo-Pacific waters and tends to live on gorgonian sea fans—it may even stick to the same one for its whole life. It camouflages itself to blend in with its surroundings by changing the color of its skin. And like other seahorses, it is the male who carries eggs in a brood pouch and pushes out the babies.
