It’s known as the snake bird for the way its long neck moves through the water when it’s swimming. It’s also sometimes referred to as the water turkey for its fan-shaped tail. It spends much of its time in the water hunting for fish, using its sharp bill as a spear to stab prey. You might be surprised to learn that the Anhinga’s feathers aren’t waterproof like other aquatic birds.
