Meet the European Roller (Coracias garrulus)! This colorful bird has a wide range across Europe, as well as in parts of Africa and Asia. It lives in a variety of habitats such as forests, grasslands, savannas, and shrublands. To protect themselves from predators, hatchlings may vomit on themselves to deter foes with a foul stench. The smell of vomit also lets parents know that something went awry while they were away from the nest.
