Have you ever seen the granulated sea star (Choriaster granulatus)? This chunky-looking marine animal, sometimes referred to as the “doughboy starfish,” grows to about 10 inches (25 centimeters) in size. It hangs out around reef habitats in shallow Indo-Pacific waters and feeds on coral and other small invertebrates, as well as scavenging dead animals.
