Our #LosAngeles preview exhibition of ‘Artists for the Hammer Museum’ is on view now through 20 April at @utaartistspace in Beverly Hills, featuring 40 works donated for a special auction benefiting the @hammer_museum’s new Artist Fund. Works by contemporary masters including Louise Bourgeois, Mark Bradford, Judy Chicago, Charles Gaines, Mark Grotjahn, Barbara Kruger, Catherine Opie, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Mary Weatherford and many more are offer in our Contemporary Art auctions in #NYC this May. Pictured here is Jonas Wood’s ‘Shio Butterfly Still Life’ from 2019, exemplifying the artist’s signature use of rich pattern-work to capture familiar scenes of domestic life. Wood is married to ceramicist Shio Kusaka – also featured in the auction – whose exquisite vessels often make appearances in Wood’s paintings, and whom the title most aptly references.
