Jake Orta lives 3 blocks from Mark Zuckerberg’s $10 million home in San Francisco. He also digs through his trash. A military veteran who now lives in government-subsidized housing, Jake is part of an underground economy in San Francisco, scavenging through others’ garbage. He sells what he retrieves around town and says his goal is to earn around $30 to $40 a day.
