Zanna Van Dijkさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Zanna Van DijkInstagram)「Finances 101 💰 I had such an interesting chat with @tallyrye last night about the fact nobody teaches us the financial basics when we are thrust into the adult world 🌍 Instead we get left to our own devices, often guessing our way through our accounts and wondered what the hell an ISA is 🤷🏼‍♀️ So, I asked my financial advisors at @firstwealthltd to summarise the basics for complete novices! ➡️ Cash savings. These are your standard savings accounts where your cash is easily accessible, so it’s best to think about what you need to get your hands on over the next few years and leave it in one of these. It is pretty much risk free, but inflation means your money in cash savings can decrease in purchasing power over time. ➡️ ISAs. A tax free savings wrapper. Any interest or growth in one of these isn’t taxed like it is in a standard bank account. There are tonnes of different types like cash, stocks and shares, help to buy and lifetime ISAs - all with their own risks and benefits. ➡️ Pensions. The most tax efficient way to save for the future BUT they’re inflexible and you can’t access the money until you are 55 years old. If you’re employed by a company, often your employer will match your contributions to a certain level so this is a great way to get free money. (Self employed people like me, we don’t get this perk!) 😩 ➡️ Debt. Clearing unsecured debt (I.e. not mortgages) should be a priority. Otherwise you can end up paying crazy interest rates for years to come. A good savings plan can help work towards clearing this. ➡️ Make a financial plan. It is important to know where you are financially, where you want to be, any monetary goals you have or life achievements you aspire to which rely on certain savings - and set aside a structured plan to achieve these ✅ I hope this helps!
