Today I saw our little guy grapple with fear in the prospect of a new challenge. We both knew that he could do it, but he had to discover that for himself. I saw my own self in him in that moment. A new challenge arises, a continual journey that never ceases as we live and grow, and just like in the eyes of a child, the longer we look at it, the bigger the fear becomes, when in reality it’s just a hop skip over a small creek. It seems easier to meander all over the woods to avoid it, but in order to get to the place we dream and wish to go, we’ll still have to learn to face that creek. We sometimes think we’ll get hurt or lose something or even ourselves in that small leap but then we can’t hope or have faith if we don’t try and more times than not, we don’t lose anything except our fear and we can only gain something greater instead. . . .
