Have you ever heard of the bush dog (Speothos venaticus)? This wild canine lives in a pack of up to 12 individuals and finds its home in forest or wet savanna habitats from Panama to northern Argentina. During the day, it hunts for a variety of rodents such as agoutis, pacas, and capybaras. It has a semi-aquatic lifestyle: equipped with partially webbed feet, the bush dog is a skilled swimmer and spends much of its time around water. At night, it returns to its den, which may be an abandoned armadillo nest or hollow tree trunk.

register_of_the_wild Hi @amnh, i love the scientific outreach you do. I am a biologist here in Brazil and i found some errors in this post. First, agouti and paca are the same species, they are distinct names for the same animal. And the mais habit of the vinager dog is terrestrial, historically considered predominantly forest, with its compact body, short and sturdy legs. It is also found in open areas in the same proportion as the forest.

Helping people learn to evaluate evidence, understand science, and to think critically is my passion. We need more reflective thinkers, not mindless drones that proselytize unfalsiable claims. calebv695 @howard.bailey.music they’re in the family Canidae (Wolves, foxes, jackals,etc.), otters are mustelids. However both Canids and Mustelids are both part of the much larger group Caniformia or Canoidia which also includes bears, pinnipeds, skunks, and red pandas.
