I can’t tell you too many details about these two kiddos in order to protect their identity and safety. I will say that the young boy leading the way has seen and felt the brunt of horror that we could never imagine our youth (or anyone) facing. He found solace in his grandmother’s home (a one room wooden shanty) where he lives with his aunt (pictured) and cousins. He didn’t act too much like a kid, and he spoke so meekly I could barely hear him. They showed me around their home: what corner they sleep in, their treasured magazine clippings of famous actors they don’t know the names of, and which water pail is for drinking and which is for the ducks. But he’s safe. And eating. And going to school: the basics... which in almost every case here were NOT a birthright.
@worldvisioncambodia not only facilitates sponsoring children, but also their support system in order to empower families and networks to create lasting change.

Oh this brings back so many memories. My family lived in a bamboo hut much like this one in the Philippines. I grew up in very poor neighborhood and actually most of our neighbors were sponsored by World Vision in one form or another. I am grateful everyday for all the encouragement and support, great and small, I received growing up to chase my dreams and rise out of poverty. You may think you’re not doing enough, but believe me every little small kindness counts. I know it mattered so much to me.

I LOVE that you are in Cambodia with @worldvisioncan! I think that they are doing such amazing work and I love that you are supporting and promoting them!! I also think that this area of the world is often over looked when talking about poverty! I went on a trip with @worldvisioncan in 2014 to Laos and I learnt so much about that country and the organization! I'm hoping and praying that you have an amazing and eye opening trip!!

I just want to express how much I always get lost in your writing.📝So impressed by the way you shared this: the restoration of hope is everything!💖 It was really eye-opening. So proud of you and the rest of the team involved in this project for raising awareness to the cause of these kids and the most vulnerable people.

Change begins with each & every one of us and I am hopeful you raising awareness of the situation there will inspire people to take action as well; however big or small. Heartfelt thank you for giving a voice to those who too often remain unheard ❤
