Ernesto Sirolli first fell in love with a Morgan while walking to school near Rome's Spanish Steps in the 1960s, a time when Italians were manufacturing Ferraris, Maseratis and the Iso Rivolta.⠀
⠀
"I had never heard of such a car before," the 68-year-old said of the British-made vehicle. "It was love at first sight."⠀
⠀
Years later, while driving a BMW 2002 in Italy, a Morgan pulled in front of him, and he followed the driver for 40 minutes before stopping to introduce himself. ⠀
⠀
He eventually ended up trading his BMW for that Morgan, after kicking in a couple thousand dollars and an antique chest of drawers.⠀
⠀
"But before he would give me his car, he interviewed me to make sure I was fit to be a Morgan owner," Mr. Sirolli said. "That is when I realized that a Morgan is not just a car; it is an ethos."⠀
⠀
After selling that car, he bought the 1951 Plus 4 model seen here, which was the 11th Morgan made following WWII. He brought it with him when he moved to California 12 years ago.⠀
⠀
"Every time I look at it," he said, "I still feel that spark that I did when I first saw a Morgan near the Spanish Steps in Rome so many years ago."⠀
