Tonight in #London, #auctioneer Helena Newman stood at the helm of Sotheby’s #Impressionist, Modern and Surrealist Art Evening Auction, which sailed to £87.7 million. The star of the night was Claude #Monet’s spectacular ‘Le Palais Ducal’, a shimmering view of the Doge’s Palace which made its auction debut at £27.5 million, having remained in the same private collection since 1926, and setting a new #AuctionRecord for one of Monet’s venerated #Venetian views.
