Starting last fall, Kelly pored over vintage @youtube clips to help capture Gladys’ essence for “American Soul.” Her own career skyrocketed in her teens alongside @Beyoncé in @destinyschild, which in 1998 displayed its own coordinated outfits and synchronized moves on “Soul Train.” And she hasn’t left music behind: In November she released the self-love single “Kelly” as a teaser to a promised album, her first since 2013. @emilyberl took this photo of Kelly.
