My last day (for now) with @careorg in #Rwanda was a look to the future- & a grounding in the past.
Part 1 here...
We started in the morning by meeting Valentine & Diane, members of the @benedictioncycling Team which is part of the @rwandacyclingfederation . Cycling is a relatively new sport here, but it's been growing like wildfire since 2004, & #Rwanda is already becoming a real international presence. You're looking at a couple of future champions!
We then got to meet Dominique who founded @imagineiwr , along with her colleagues Sandrine, Aaron, Jamal, & Lena. Dominque started #ImagineWe when she was 22- she said she wanted to empower young people to dream & to become. First stop: there was only 1 library in Rwanda; they wanted to change that. They now not only donate books to schools in need, but they also train authors so that there are books by #Rwandans to share, they publish their books, & they create platforms for other self-expression and creative thinking in the arts & tech. Because REPRESENTATION MATTERS.
