Welcome to the newly opened KGB #Spy Museum in #Chelsea, #NewYork. It’s a warehouse-type space housing thousands of artifacts documenting the rise of the KGB, the Soviet Union’s intelligence agency and secret police. The curators are a father-daughter duo, Julius Urbaitis and Agne Urbaityte. The museum is the culmination of 3 decades worth of collecting by Julius, who, after acquiring a listening device that belonged to Adolf Hitler, grew fascinated with #espionage. Here, you’ll find a mock-up of a chief officer’s work space, a functioning Enigma machine, a cassette player containing an audio recorder and camera which was used to spy on people, a switchboard made in Tallinn, Estonia, in 1928 and more. @karstenmoran shot these photos of the artifacts.
