This intensely striking Christ as Triumphant Redeemer is an important rediscovery for the Flemish 16th-century master Jan Sanders van Hemessen. Until only recently, the picture had been completely over-painted, masking the incredibly well preserved original composition lying underneath. It is one of the many highlights of our Master Paintings Evening Sale on 30 January in #NYC, with exhibitions open to the public on the 25th. #SothebysMasters
