tumultuously the most successful & hardest working year, all in one.
18 things I learned in this 365 day term: 2018
1-we get better with time: everything gets better with time, thus our best years are ahead of each of us.
2- come as you are: there are enough fake ppl +wannabes, I’d rather just be authentically, myself. same girl from Carlsbad High who just wants to laugh, be at the beach and be weird all day.
3-capacity to love: my capacity to love is so deep and wide, it’s immeasurable + constantly ceases to amaze me. Keep loving hard and deep x
4- I wrote/photographed a Japanese wellness book with mom, “#Kintsugi that scared the sht out of me, three years of non-stop work, pain+ progress. good things come to those who work.
5- friendships: some are tough + they are all perfectly imperfect #wabisabi
6- when we work on ourselves first, really really good things happen
7- with age, we get hotter: look at @ジェニファー・ロペス & stop worrying — bc true beauty is found in the deepest part of one’s soul and the tremendously strong human heart.
8-if a man doesn’t have an edge, I’m not interested. 9- Writing for Forbes, Oprah, Arianna, Martha, Vogue, Girlboss + Well+Good all in one year humbled my hands/heart. I am thinking deeper on my meaningful contributions for you.
10- my agents + team are my family & we grow and learn and love, together. #gaman
11- people who really love you, always come back around x
12- I still love my Nike high tops, ASAP Rocky, Lil Weezy, my beats and #Spotify the most.
13- Eight Years: my eight years in NYC taught me: the greatest lessons, hustlin’, patience & above all resilience.
14- Japanese for the kill: my past/my family’s history: this is where dreams came true + I’ll plan game changing in 2019/20 w gratitude towards my ancestors. better stories that evoke emotion + connection, coming soon
15- I don’t really care what you think of me. go take a knitting class.
16- F basic.
17- High Road: it’s tougher, it will always be the path I choose.
18- Wendy Williams said I make the best sushi in the world. That’s the MF truth x
