Photo by @PaulNicklen // While photographing on a remote shore in northern British Columbia, I came across this rock, covered in a beautiful petroglyph. It is not known why it is there or how long it has been there. Petroglyphs were used to share a variety of messages, some including greetings, warnings, and stories. I share messages through my photography, and as I stood in this ancient rainforest, seeing this petroglyph made me feel so connected to the past - a reminder of the enduring traditions of visual communication. It’s fascinating how it has evolved over time, and how the media have changed, from a carving on a rock, to a photo on your phone. But no matter how much time has passed, or how different they are, at their core is a message waiting to be interpreted. #FollowMe at @paulnicklen for more of my photos from around the world. #petroglyph #BritishColumbia #storytelling #history
