Early morning in Danum Valley, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. I have been fortunate enough to have spent a lot of time over the years in the maginificent Bornean rainforest. It is a contagious realm filled with miracles big and small...This forest is estimated to be at least 130 million years old, making it one of the oldest rainforests in the world (and twice as old as the Amazon). Borneo, as I might have said before, is extremely rich in biodiversity and provides habitat for about 15,000 known species of flowering plants, and more than 3,000 tree species, 221 terrestrial mammal species, and 420 bird species.
