In our December 2018 issue, interior designer Stefan Steil and creative director Eric Pike take us inside their fully renovated West Village townhouse. The apartment, once a “bland white box,” was transformed into a quirky and sophisticated home with an impressive attention to detail, color, and texture. The dining room’s square proportions and skylight were inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. The steel-and-wood table is custom, the vintage Niels Otto Møller chairs are upholstered in a Perennials fabric, and the 18th-century candlelit lantern is Swedish.
