Orangutan Bonnie is one of our training session stars! Through positive reinforcement training, this 41-year-old voluntarily participates in her own healthcare. Every month, keepers conduct a health check on the Zoo’s orangutans, collecting their weight and vitals to ensure they are healthy and noting any changes. Here, Bonnie is allowing keepers to take her temperature with an ear thermometer, measure her heart rate and oxygen level in her blood with a finger probe, and listen to her lungs with a stethoscope. Bonnie is an eager participant in training sessions and is rewarded with one of her favorite treats: juice! #OrangutanCaringWeek
