In his long career, Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer worked as a painter, pastelist, ceramicist and furniture designer – proving himself a true master of interior design.⠀

In 1910, he combined these different skills to design the home of his friend Auguste Rateau, who was particularly interested in the Art Nouveau movement. This painting was commissioned to be a part of the new interiors.⠀
