Photo by @Tim Laman. Running camera traps in the rain forest of Borneo, you never know what you’re going to get. On this particular night, my subject was a Malayan Porcupine, one of the many fascinating mammals of Borneo’s lowland rain forest that you are unlikely to see even if you spend months there. The huge defensive spines of this animal are just highly modified hairs, and they look pretty effective to me. Part of my @ナショナルジオグラフィック project to document the biodiversity of the incredibly rich lowland forests of #GunungPalungNationalPark, in West Kalimantan Province, #Indonesia. #Kalimantan, #rainforest, #Borneo, #IndonesiaBiodiversity.
