Photo by @Tim Laman. Flowers drift down a river in Gunung Palung National Park, Indonesia. I just made a short visit to the forest at #GunungPalung, and my timing was perfect to witness the synchronized flowering event in the forest canopy, the first stage of what’s known as “mast fruiting”. After pollination by small insects, the flowers fall en masse, creating this beautiful phenomenon that only happens for a couple days once every four or five years. These are flowers from the canopy giant Shorea johorensis. #GunungPalungNationalPark, #Kalimantan, #flowers, #rainforest, #mist, #Borneo, #IndonesiaBiodiversity.
