#SPEAKINGINDANCE | “The moment I get lifted in the air, my mind always clears for just a second,” said the @trishabrowncompany dancer Oluwadamilare Ayorinde of his gravity-defying role in “Working Title” (1985). “The harness is like a new floor that I have to get used to sinking into in order to stretch out.” Performed this week at @bam_brooklyn, “Working Title” was a precursor to “Lateral Pass,” which pushed the dancers’ physical limits. Set to a score by Peter Zummo, it’s an example of Trisha’s fascination with flying and suspended bodies. In this case, said Diane Madden, an associate artistic director for the company, the flying is “sort of in your face. It’s bumbly. We’re not trying to hide anything.” In other words, it’s the opposite of ethereal. “There’s the bumping into people, the pushing out of the way,” she told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ writer @giadk. “It’s very human.” @angelo_vasta made this video for #SpeakingInDance, our weekly series exploring the world of #dance.
