Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto @thephotosociety Bengal tiger stalking – It is simply one of those indescribable feelings, an adult tiger, exquisite light, complete silence. Only an occasional sound, the faintest crackle as paw touches leaf, then silence again. The tiger freezes in the evening light, it’s eyes fixed, my heart racing. There is no other animal like this on Earth, not to me, not in these forests and not with this history. This was my dream as child but I never thought that I’d actually be lucky enough to see one, in the wild, doing what tigers do. I chose this moment because of the feeling of secrecy, of cunning and of disguise. How many animals will have been watched in their final moments, unaware that nearby a tiger waits, unseen and undetected, eyes fixed and poised. The explosion of speed cannot be articulated, it is too fast, too ferocious, too devastating, no wonder then that in that moment animals will simply freeze, paralysed in the moment, resigned to their fate. That I am privileged to be returning to India this coming October I am forever grateful, the two sold out groups that I shall be leading I hope are lucky. At the entrance to Bandhavgarh National Park stands a sign, a word of caution for those entering. ‘Do not worry’ it says ‘if you do not see a tiger, for they will most certainly have seen you! For those that might want to experience tigers for themselves then I will be leading my next tours to India in January 2020 so for more details then please email me at [email protected] Alternatively you can click the link on my bio where you can join my mailing list as well, this is one trip, one experience that you will cherish forever, of that you can be certain.
