Nosy Iranja is located north-west of Madagascar, 45 kilometers (30 miles) from Nosy Be. Nosy Iranja is actually formed by two islands, Nosy Iranja Be, the bigger one and Nosy Iranja Kely. Those are connected by a sandbank, only visible at low tide.
On Nosy Iranja Be there is a small fishing village and a lighthouse designed by Gustav Eiffel. The island is also the breeding place for two species of turtles, green and hawksbill.
