We visited Chinese painter You Jin in his Beijing studio to talk about his creative process and ‘Daydreaming About the Future’, his painting offered in our Shanghai auction this month.⠀

When working, You Jin starts with ‘pure colour’ and begins introducing other colours little by little. ‘I particularly enjoy the process of drawing lines,’ he says.⠀

‘My studio is a place that makes me calm. I feel content in my studio; it allows me to be alone. The first thing I do is put on some music, something soft and gentle.’⠀
