Although the fight for equal representation in fields of science, technology, engineering, art, & mathematics (& beyond) is still ongoing, it truly makes my soul smile to see positive changes in the right direction...It's not about handing out opportunities on a silver platter, rather it's simply about unlocking the doors that have been previously bolted shut to specific groups of people. When that happens, the collective is always greater than the individual, & it has been proven time & time again...All you have to do is look at how films such as “Black Panther” & “Crazy Rich Asians” have been dominating the box office!! When I wanted to get into film scoring back in the 60s, people would often say things like, "Can a black man write?" Thankfully, I was fortunate to have other people in my life such as Henry Mancini who would have my back & say "hell yeah, a black man can write!"...As the saying goes, "the ONLY time you should ever look down upon someone is if you're going to help them up"...so with that in mind, it's an absolute HONOR to be a part of the Andreessen Horowitz #CulturalLeadershipFund, alongside some real change makers. It's absolutely incredible to see how the CLF plans to bridge the gap between African Americans & tech, & the only direction we can go from here is UP! Thank-Q to my brother @bhorowitz0 (just missin' U in this pic with me, your incredibly intelligent/beautiful wife @feliciahorowitz & my precious son @therealqd3 doin' the hang-thang at your BBQ!) & to @chrislyons for leading this initiative. It's not every day that you meet people who are working to change entire industries on their own, so I applaud U both & your hard work...Big-time love & props! It's TIME!
